Lately there has been a lot of talk about people using Alan's clicker to play the game. Should I believe the rumors and if they are true, is Ender doing enough to catch them?

maybe drop wiggin a bmail detailing your suspicions (bot names, intel etc), then he can choose whether he wants to run a check on them.

My a/c is "technically" undetectable. It runs off the code outputted by the server. It looks through the javascript for the exact link. It doesn't "move" the mouse. Until he changes the output, my a/c with work. Tell Ed to change even the order of the output and my a/c will break. It'd be as simple as that. It is very smart, but not smart enough for that.

It works like so, if this is the output :

• ('/fight/100/54837','Fight again','#ff0000',20,190),('/fight/100/54827','Fight again','#00000',20,190),('/fight','Back to list','#333333',0,0);

So, the first set of info is the correct link, with the id and everything, the color and energy gained. As long as it's color is greatest and not the back to list link, it picks that one. Then, as long as the energy gained is > 0 (20 in example), it will keep fighting. So, it fights once more than it needs to everytime, OR if you are fighting a non clan bot/ N/C, it will rape them completely until the "Fights left" is > 0 (190 in example).

It then alerts you if the captcha comes up. It doesn't enter the captcha. It's just efficient training.

My stand on it is, I don't find it the "worst" that I could of made because it doesn't fully automate battles. I don't plan on updating it. As it took me weeks to make it. Hours and hours.

Not saying it isn't. I don't autoclick. But I'm saying that if Ender doesn't want to stop autoclickers then it would make logical sense to just allow them. Or allow them in a certain respect like leveling or something.

The game is slowly becoming a computer simulation the more acers there is is all. Once you rid of human interaction then it is just that. And @ Alan's post explaining it, you don't automate everything yes, but it's fairly close, just like the old acs.

It doesn't matter if Ender closes or breaks your script. You can make more bots via other ips and make more scripts. It will just be an eternal battle between you and him and he may not want to fight it. That is what I want to know. Well that and who acs cuz' it's fun to find out.

Bans are pretty much impossible to enforce without constantly human intervention and monitoring and that just isn't a good use of enders time unfortunately.

I'd rather him use his time on something better like PvE or Tournaments Tbh but we all have our opinions

Oh and since nobody seems to be able to tell if it is me or rith writing these posts I just want to say that it was me, Zal. This is for Ender's sake because he probably will be angry at me for these posts and I want to be sure he gets angry at me and not rith.

Alan, I doubt it is "technically undetectable", code is predictable, whereas humans aren't. Do you handle time with the script? Maybe something like a random delay between 0.1 and 5 seconds each click, or else you risk the same amount of time between fights ending and new fights beginning each time. I realise I probably shouldn't be suggesting ways to improve an autoclicker, I'll stop now :)

It does not delay anymore. It used to wait 0-6 attempts extra. Since attempts is easier than time to figure.

Rumours? The script has been downloaded 839 times. Someone has to be using it. Maybe Ender should just do a Google search of "bots4 autoclicker" and get his head out of the clouds and do something. I'd state the web address but for some reason he gets all mad at people that do that because it's "distributing the script". The internet does that, not me. I happy that so much feedback from the community was generated, but it is just rumors although it seems fairly likely that some players are using it if its been downloaded that many times. It would be interesting to see (if its possible) when Alan first posted the script and the dates on which it was downloaded, then compare that information to player activity in the game. Not sure if any of that is even possible.

It was downloaded around 130 times before I posted it on the forums. This was mainly me and my friends who downloaded it for each browser. Then When I posted it, it jumped to 330 or so. In 6 months it's gained another 500. Each day going up by 1-2.

I'm sure Ender has or could get that data. That's assuming he has even a spark of interest in this topic/debate whatever you wanna call it though.

Erm theres been plenty of games that have had a so called ranking system and no you dont have to be good to get ranks. Theres plenty of people out there that suck that get max ranks due to small xp but it takes time. And yes ive played CoD and found it all to be boring and the same and no skill anymore. Actually its in all games with a so called rank system. World of warcraft rank doesnt mean crap, rift it doesnt, battlefield it doesnt, you dont have to be good to get ranks in any game. Sucky people end up being good ranks too for just finding away to stay in game and idling. Yes being good adds to ranking faster do to the better you do the more xp you get same with the more matches yadaydaya. But sucky people can still make it through same with medium players. Plus theres enough people out there that have let their friends beat their accounts sensles just to gain ranks. That was very common in Halo games. So I stay with my comment, ranks dont mean shit in a game. And leader i know how to make games so, i know how systems can work. Made a rank system for a private server use to help run on a Ragnorak online server. So yes, i know how shit works. So i have room to have a say so shut it.

So if I get this right, your accusing Lyrad and Rene of autoclicking because they got a high score? The reason they were so high is because they were competing. Neps never had a rival so never had to go truly all out, just what he could be bothered.

(You probably did, but to make sure, you worked it out from Neps' highest month right? Anything less and the comparison is unfair)

im not accusing anyone, id rather believe that no one is cheating. and i thought the same thing about the top two spots, a good competition kept them scoring hard all month to the very end. those number only look at the last 6 months, because that is how long alan said he had posted it.

remember that these are rumors and i just want to get feed back from everyone playing the game about their thoughts on the matter

if alan has a list of people i wonder how many of those players are also on that top 10 list.

Alan's bot isn't really ideal for dumping, you'd still have to log in and out, repair armours, promote and demote etc. I think his is aimed at clearing up energy not dumping it.

Make the comparison to Neps' highest month please, it will be fairer, and as Alan said, it was released 11 months before that.

plus a clicker can be used to do more than just score, it can help build dumper clans, make ratio whores, train and level bots...that type of use would be much more difficult to compare in a list, energy is just the most obvious place to look

Nah Alan's bot, unmodified at least, is targeted at getting energy alone. Never used it but I read the code and it checks for energy, nothing else. And Rene/Lyrad use ratio whores for levelling their dumper clans, meaning they have less than 100 fights before hitting lvl 100.

I understand the scepticism as they got really good scores, but Alans clicker is WAY too simple for anything like that, all it can do is click fight again on the same target until its raped.

I think my point is that even if they did click, it wouldnt speed them up. They couldn't leave it running while offline or sleeping etc. So anything they could get while ACing, they can get while playing normally. So the scarily high score isn't proof in itself.

I want to make sure that everyone understand that Im not accusing anyone or pointing fingers until there is proof to back up all the rumors. The sad fact is that the current anticheat system is pretty easy to bypass if you got some coding knowledge. As Dragonrose said in the first reply to your pointless thread, send Ender a bmail detailing your suspicions, don't bother feeding this degenerate forum. I could cite several reasons that support the fact I didn't cheat, but in the end there's nothing I can say to definitively prove anything, so I'm not going to bother.

When I put that prize, I had no way to know if there was cheating or not. I trusted in Ender to catch cheaters before I gave my prize.

Speaking of bmailing Ender susicions, I did send him the link to the script but he has not replied to me as of yet. I do have suspicions but I don't see why we should throw them out there if Ender won't acknowledge the script is out there and that he will actually catch cheaters if in fact we know of any. Hell even a post/bmail condemning Alan's script would be enough for me. But who knows, maybe he has something up his sleeve. So secretive he is.

Well, time for me to weigh in on this.

As is usual with discussions of cheating, there's a lot of unsubstantiated rumors and FUD flying around. No one except me is in any position to say with authority how widespread cheating is. I'm the only one with access to server logs and the other various mechanisms in place to help detect foul play, so keep that in mind when you see someone say how "easy" and "widespread" cheating is.

At this point you might be wondering why I haven't addressed and/or stopped Alan's autoclicker. I've said this elsewhere: my goal has never been to stop automation. That's a game of cat and mouse that will quickly deplete my time/energy - I update the game, he updates the script, I update the game, he updates the script...ad infinitum, all while real players suffer from more annoying anti-cheating devices like fake links and captchas.

So instead, I setup things like honeypots to detect automation. This distinction is important because detecting cheating is much easier than stopping cheating, yet it has the same net effect - no cheaters competing. It probably goes without saying, but for any thick would-be cheaters out there: don't use Alan's autoclicker unless you want all of your bots locked/reset. No one's been silly enough to try this since I configured the honeypot for it, but I'm telling you now - you will get caught and I won't have to lift a finger.

Also, it's kind of a losing strategy for me to even talk about this stuff. I don't want to show any more of my cards than I have to when it comes to security because I only stand to lose by telling people how I think and what I do. I am nevertheless torn on wanting to communicate that I am very aware of what's going on and do actively work to make the game fair for all. I'm still trying to work out the best balance for this, so please remember that when I am silent the next time this topic inevitably comes up.
