Hello, i've been playing bots on and off since bots2,
I was thinking about studying more in to the game and committing my time around the game.
I was wondering if it will be worth it in the long run. How often does the game get up dated and what future plans the game has to offer me as a player? I've read some posts in the forums and it seems like it takes for ever to get updates. Would there be newly added content such as, new weapons, armor and shields?
Any feed back would be great, cheers

In general, updates are scarce, though I suppose it depends on what you compare it to. The majority of the updates are posted in the Announcements forum, so you could see how frequent they are by looking at the thread post dates (ignoring the "Escapism wins Month 2013" stuff). Ender (the creator) has a job, a life, etc and this is just something he does on the side, arguably not even a hobby any more.
That being said, updates that do come are generally always at the request of the community. I don't know any other game where player input is so important (especially due to the low amount of players) and if you want something added it may actually happen unlike bigger games (though unless it is very easy/important, it may not happen soon)

Thanks for the input Fish, appreciated.
I'm more than willing to play my part and contribute some cash towards the game, i'm just trying to get a general gist on where the game is going.
Thanks again.

The updates come along slowly but surely pretty much.
|
And unlike most other games, updates don't completely alter the game play. Granted they have, here, on a couple occasions (Example being the energy change revert a few months back after Ender altered it about a year ago), but mostly they enhance the game rather than hinder it.
|
The word "frequent" probably shouldn't be used to describe how often bots in updated. They happen very little, and when they do they change very little.
If you're thinking about coming back and the frequency of updates is important to you then maybe you shouldn't, this is what bots is going to be like for the foreseeable future.

(and DNM should know, this is the first time in a year he's logged on)
|
And it's still the same, down to the "bots is dying" and "OMG HAX" threads.
If i'm right the last update (to energy system) change it back to the way it was earlier.

yehh these people are pretty much right updates are rare while i have been playing this game the only thing to be change has been the energy system and a few other things but not big changes to the game.
so if your looking for a game to be updated regular its certainly not this one
|
Yes, this game does lack a regular update. I think when Ender first made the game he wasn't working full time, so he did have more time to actually put into the game. From reading forum suggestions I think he'll get around to a few small to medium updates soonish but I guess it's a wait and see game.

I think we must destroy google for the better of bots

You can´t hide from google!!

You can´t hide from google!!
It would be hard but possible, you'd have to live in a bunker or something

Since I am the sole developer, update frequency can vary quite a bit depending on what sort of commitments I have going on in my life. I am usually online daily though to respond to mail and forum posts. I am for sure planning to continue development of the game, so I would recommend sticking around. :)

You've got me on the hook Ender...
Bots is like an abusive relationship I can't leave, it keeps promising it'll get better.
