this idea would help each bot be a little more unique..
whenever you buy a weapon it would give a list of like 5 perks of which you could choose one...
i thought of a few options
- slight increase in weapon accuracy
- slightly increase the weapon damage
- increase chance of weapon striking first
- if health less than 15% weapon will hit harder
- weapon will have lower chance of being blocked

This sounds similar to the equipment modifier idea I want to eventually work on. I haven't thought about it too much yet and there'd be a lot of details to work out, but the general idea is that a Troll Shoe wouldn't just be a Troll Shoe, but there would be a perfect Troll Shoe, a pretty good Troll Shoe, a not as good Troll Shoe, etc. Think along the lines of itemization in Diablo 2 (and maybe D3, I haven't played it).
|
Just a thought: A perfect Troll Shoe could have +14 STR, +8 CON, and -0 DEX and -0 INT. A worst case Troll Shoe could be +0 STR, +0 CON, -7 DEX and -8 INT. If you build the system around the existing stuff, all the armors already in existence wouldn't be a problem, they'd just be more or less slightly above average armors in the new system. Of course, everything new from scratch would be infinitely more exciting. :)
|
keep the normal, add a + version and a - version. eg.
Perfect: +5% everything
Normal: same stats
Shit/poor: -5% everything
|
Nothing like that (Shred's suggestion) please, while you're redesigning the system, last thing you want is more identical items. All you'd be making would be a harder to camp version of the present incarnation of bots4.
To mix shit up, and deal with the existing armors problem, you could make the stat bonuses have the range -100% to 150% of the "standard" attributes. For example:
ULTIMATE TROLL SHOE:
+21 STR
+7 DEX
+12 CON
+8 INT
If the attributes were randomly generated integers, with any single integer from S(-100%) to S(150%) having an equal chance to spawn, the above example would spawn once every 285,768 Troll Shoes. As would this:
-14 STR
-11 DEX
-8 CON
-12 INT.
Yummy!

yeah, this is sounding a bit better, I still think it needs a little work done on it still though. but we're heading in the right direction :)
|
So basically more people would be camping for longer periods of time. How would this affect ordering? and with these variances in weapons stats, it could potentially affect the top freaked builds and this would tend to favour players using dumpers.
|
Ordering a Troll Shoe would spawn a Troll Shoe, with random stats.
Why would it favor people using dumpers?
|
i def dont want anything that makes me camp longer.. that takes long enough...
wut about this..
since we keep using troll shoe ill keep tht one... everyone will find the regular one in the showroom and you will earn the modifiers to it..
maybe after so many wins with troll shoe on you could purchase the modifier for like 1,000,000 kudos or sumin...

Assuming a player is using dumpers, he can achieve perfect stats on equips for the main bot. The perfect equips would never break due to never being used.
Players not using dumpers would have to repeatedly camp their bots after breaking their equips from fighting and on average receive normal stat equips.
|
Why not just do away with the camping all together? Have all of the items available all of the time.
Only difference is that the item that you want to buy comes with a random roll. Once it's rolled then you either buy it or you pass.
However the item can not be re-rolled again for 1 to 10 days. That also would be determined by a roll from 1 to 10 days or whatever number of days the programmer decides is fair.
If you get a bad roll and don't buy the item then you lose the cost of the item or possibly just a percentage of the price for taking the chance.
Just a suggestion to change the game around a bit more. With this system you could also buy the item with a generic default numerical value (like it is now) by camping or ordering it according to the amount of stars you have on the bot.
This would give you a chance to get a real good item or a not so good one. Kind of like gambling by rolling the dice, or you could just do the same old same old camping... Which is kind of a drag...
